Harrisburg Trip

On Monday, December 24, I flew to Harrisburg, PA, for a two-day, three-lecture visit to the warm and welcoming Jewish community there.

The first speech was hosted by the Stein family in their home on Sunday afternoon. The link to this talk can be found here: http://rabbiwolbe.com/vayechi-spiritual-diagnostician-recorded-live-in-harrisburg-pa/

The second talk immediately followed in Kesher Israel Congregation, a shul that was led by the legendary Rabbi Eliezer Silver, and is now headed by Rabbi Elisha Friedman. The subject was Mussar Masters During the Holocaust: Portraits of Valor, Faith, and Martyrdom, the weightiness of which was offset by Chinese food imported from Baltimore. I delivered the third speech on Monday morning in the JCC of Greater Harrisburg on the history of Jerusalem. That talk can be found here: http://rabbiwolbe.com/ep-44-jerusalem-a-history-of-the-holy-city-from-the-bible-to-bibi/.

After that speech, I had just enough time to get a a tour of the Pennsylvania State Capitol before the return flight to Houston.

Thank you Ari Huberman for initiating my visit, coordinating all the details, and for graciously hosting me in your home. It was so nice to get to know you and your lovely family. Thank you David Borowsky and all my new Harrisburg friends for making my trip so wonderful and memorable.
